Preliminary Round

We welcome undergraduate and MBA students to compete as a Venture Capitalist team to learn about the VC industry, distinguish themselves to industry leaders, and value and pitch an early stage investment with a 12-page PowerPoint. Competitors will evaluate a potential listing on the TSX Venture Exchange in the preliminary case.

Second Round

The teams will submit a 8-minute max video presentation of the business valuation conducted in the previous round.

Third Round

The teams will receive mentorship as they analyze and evaluate Entrepreneurship Teams' business ideas and financial projections. This is a phenomenal experience that delegates in previous years have cherished to a great degree while working with highly driven individuals.

Final Round

Three finalist VC teams will compete in the final round. Each team will be given the business plans of the five finalist Entrepreneurship teams to evaluate as potential investments. Of the five business plans, the VC team must pick one company to invest in and present their investment pitch at the final round in front of venture capitalist industry leaders.

Each VC team will then negotiate a financing structure with the entrepreneurship team they chose. The top VC Team, as decided by the panel of judges, will receive $5,000 prize money, PVCC Venture Capital & Private Equity Award, résumés distributed to 50+ partnering firms (VC, PE, IB). Mentorship by industry professionals is also available for winners.
