Joe Ip is a Finance student finishing his last semester at the Sauder School of Business. His passion for venture capital and entrepreneurship originated from his exposure to the renewable energy sector in his early summer internships; he has since expanded his interest to encompass a myriad of disruptive technology businesses. Most recently, Joe had the privilege to work at BMO Capital Markets in the Fixed Income - Trading Products Group. Prior to that, he worked on the energy origination desk at Morgan Stanley’s Fixed Income and Commodities department. He is most inspired by the innate risk-seeking aptitude of entrepreneurs and venture capitalists, a trait that he wishes to cultivate in every competitor and delegate at PVCC. Upon graduation, Joe is looking forward to relocating to Hong Kong where he will begin full-time with Goldman Sachs in Fixed Income Currencies and Commodities.

Ryan Ho is a fourth year Finance student at the Sauder School of Business. For the past three summers, he has interned in Hong Kong with Taubman, a real estate developer, owner, and manager based in the U.S. As the Conference Director of PVCC this year, Ryan aims to push the event's ongoing success to new heights and continue to explore the world of entrepreneurship and venture capital. Aside from school, Ryan's interests include DJing, producing electronic dance music, photography, sports, and going on outdoor adventures. This summer, Ryan will be working at BMO Capital Markets in their Sales and Trading group.

Justin Kim is a third year Finance student pursuing a minor in economics. Having developed an interest in entrepreneurship and venture capital, he co-founded a start-up team called ‘Boodle Korea’ in the summer and is trying to get seed funds to make his business idea of smart scheduling come true. In addition to his last year’s experience as a Conference Associate of PVCC, he will bring his entrepreneurial experience to this year’s organizing committee as a Conference Director.


Kerry poon

Competition

Kerry Poon is a second year student at the Sauder School of Business intending to specialize in Finance with a concentration in International Business. Her interest in venture capital and entrepreneurship grew stronger after having been the Competition Associate for PVCC last year. As Competition Director this year, she hopes to expand the competition internationally by inviting more students from across the globe to Vancouver to compete. Outside of PVCC, Kerry is a big foodie, passionate adventurer, and history enthusiast.


AKASH SIDHU

Akash Sidhu is a fourth year student at the Sauder School of Business pursuing a double major in Finance and Accounting. He has worked as an Equity Research Associate at Canalyst and as a Private Equity Intern at IVEST Consumer Partners, and is keen on launching a career in investment banking.  As Competition Director, Akash strives to expand the scale of the competition and increase PVCC’s international reputation. In his free time, Akash enjoys weight lifting, boxing, and playing team sports. This summer, Akash will work in Calgary at Citibank as an Investment Banking Summer Analyst.

Harpreet Sidhu is a second year student at the Sauder School of Business intending to specialize in Accounting. Her interest in PVCC was inspired by her entrepreneurial friends and family. This year, she hopes to help in expanding the conference and creating a better experience for all attendees. She is excited to see finance students, entrepreneurs, and industry professionals all come together. Outside of school, Harpreet is an avid fan of slam poetry and indie-pop music.

SHIV VASHISHT

Shiv Vashisht is a second year student at the Sauder School of Business, currently pursuing a combined major in Business and Computer Science. Most recently, Shiv had the opportunity to work at Vancity Buzz as a Business Development Intern. Shiv is keen on succeeding within the entrepreneurial world, and hopes to one day be at the helm of his own startup. By being a part of PVCC, Shiv hopes to share his passion in entrepreneurship and venture capital with students around the world. In his free time, Shiv loves to watch and play sports such as hockey, basketball and golf.


YUJIE SONG

Case Development

Yujie Song is a third year finance student at the Sauder School of Business. This past summer, she ventured the Chinese market as part of Trek China, and subsequently worked in commercial banking and corporate finance. Having been a VC finalist in last year's competition and a keen case competitor, she hopes to use her experiences to help PVCC grow and reach new heights. Outside of PVCC, Yujie enjoys classical music, anime, and exploring new food and cultures. 


DIANA PAN

Diana Pan is in her last semester as a Real Estate Co-op student at the UBC Sauder School of Business. She has previously worked at BC Housing as a Portfolio Analyst. Currently, she is working at PWGSC, where she has exposure to Accommodation Management, Portfolio Management and Valuations. While her professional and academic background lies within real estate, Diana has developed a personal interest in entrepreneurship and venture capital. Diana is enthusiastic to be part of the organizing committee this year and has plans to motivate the team to excel beyond previous limits and current expectations.

James Yue is currently a fifth year Accounting Co-op student. Most recently, he had the opportunity to work in Calgary for eight months at Suncor Energy as a Treasury Analyst. Currently, he is working at Teck Resources in their tax department where he receives exposure to Canadian tax filing preparation, tax compliance and foreign tax reporting. James is keen on working alongside the organizing committee in bringing together start-up minds, finance students and professionals. Outside of PVCC, James enjoys giving back to the community in the form of tax filing services with UBC TACS for low-income individuals, families and UBC students. After graduation, James will relocate to Calgary to start full-time with PwC in Audit.


ANTHONY LIANG

Anthony Liang is a fourth year Finance and Real Estate student at the Sauder School of Business. Having transitioned to Commerce from a Forest Sciences background, he brings a unique diversity to the PVCC organizing committee. Anthony hopes to expand the competition further by bringing in entrepreneurs with whom he has worked with from biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. As Competition Associate, Anthony aims to create a fulfilling competitor experience and at the same time, further his knowledge and understanding of entrepreneurship and venture capital. Beyond academics, Anthony enjoys competitive swimming, exploring new hiking trails, and playing the piano. This summer, Anthony will be working as a Development Intern with Ivanhoe Cambridge. 


Nikita Puri

Nikita Puri is a third year Finance student at the Sauder School of Business with a great deal of passion for giving creative minds the platform to legitimize their ideas and having them come to life. Having interned at Johnson & Johnson and Napier Healthcare in the past two summers, exploring the worlds of Marketing and Accounting at both firms respectively, she has decided the world of Investment Banking is where she would ultimately like to find a career in the near future. Being an international student, she hopes to make this year’s competition and conference more internationally renowned by bringing in prestigous and diverse universities from all around the world to make PVCC 2015-2016 the biggest and greatest one yet. This summer, Nikita will be working as Summer Business Analyst for DBS Bank in Singapore.

Shirley Deutsch is a first year commerce student at Sauder School of Business. This past year, Shirley was the Vice President of Finance for a Junior Achievement company where she managed the company's expenses and revenues. While being involved with Junior Achievement, she had experienced the struggles and the pride one can feel when starting their own innovative company. This led Shirley to discover the world of entrepreneurship and she aspires to one day creates her own start-up. Shirley is thrilled to be apart of the 2015-2016 PVCC organizing committee and looks forward to making this year's conference and competition the best and the largest one to date. Outside of university, Shirley enjoys traveling with her camera to new and exotic places.
