Thomas Hellmann has been the Director of the W. Maurice Young Entrepreneurship and Venture Capital Research Center since September 2007. He is also the B.I. Ghert Family Foundation Professor in Finance and Policy at the Sauder School of Business, University of British Columbia. He has been a faculty member of the Strategy and Business Economic division of UBC since July 2004. Thomas is one of the leading researchers in the area of venture capital and entrepreneurship. He has published on these topics in leading finance and economics journals.

Praveen Varshney has 20 years of experience in entrepreneurship and the capital markets. He is a past president of the Vancouver chapter of The Entrepreneur's Organization (EO) and a founding director of the Vancouver chapter of The IndUS Entrepreneurs (TiE). Mr. Varshney is also on UBC President Stephen Toope's strategic Advisory Council, a former Director of The Vancouver Board of Trade, and a past recipient of Business in Vancouver's Forty under 40 Awards.

Andrew has worked on a wide variety of transactions, including restructuring trans- actions, capital raisings, take-private transactions, general M&A transactions, and high-yield loan transactions, with a total aggregate value of committed financing and completed transactions of more than $8 billion. Prior to Agentis, Mr. Grieve worked in investment banking at the Macquarie Group in Vancouver and Chicago.

Peter was an investment banker at J.P. Morgan and CITIC Securities where he specialized in mergers and acquisitions, private placements, spin-off IPOs, and rights issues in the banking, insurance, real estate, and hi-tech manufacturing sectors. Peter has been involved in complex deal structuring alongside private equity firms such as KKR and Apollo, as well as other institutional investors.

Eric has over 10 years of experience in private equity, investment banking and consulting. At Yaletown, Eric is an active member of both Information Technology and Cleantech investment teams focusing on deal sourcing, investment diligence, governance, and strategic initiatives with portfolio companies. Prior to joining Yaletown in 2008, Eric conducted equity research on the software and Internet infrastructure sectors as a Senior Associate with Jefferies & Company, an investment bank and securities firm based in New York. Before Jefferies, Eric was a Senior Analyst with Analysis Group.

Tina is an Analyst in CIBC World Markets Inc.’s Vancouver Investment Banking Group. Tina joined CIBC in 2010 and has prior internship experience in trading and equity research in Vancouver and Hong Kong. Tina co-founded the UBC Venture Capital and Private Equity Club in 2008, which has since evolved to the PVCC that we are familiar with today.

Kelly Edmison is President and CEO of Pender, which he founded in 2002. He oversees all business activities of Pender’s fund management and venture capital businesses. His focus is on building a leading west coast mutual fund company, offering forward-thinking, value-based products which generate outstanding returns. For the last 15 years he has been a director and officer of a number of successful companies in a variety of sectors, including technology, products and services, and healthcare.
JORDAN HUANG | Investment Banking Analyst

Jordan Huang is an investment banking analyst at Scotiabank Global Banking and Markets. Prior to Scotiabank, he worked in investment banking and equity research at Paradigm Capital. During his time at UBC, he led the Pacific Venture Capital Conference & Competition as Chairperson (2012-2014), and expanded the competition into a global platform. He also served as a member of the Board of Directors of the UBC Commerce Undergraduate Society. Jordan has a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree in Finance and Accounting from UBC.

Joe Ip is a credit analyst at Goldman Sachs in Hong Kong. Prior to Goldman Sachs, he has had experience on the Sales and Trading desks at Morgan Stanley and BMO Capital Markets. With an entrepreneurial spirit and a strong interest in Clean Tech, Joe's interest was piqued by what the Pacific Venture Capital Conference & Competition was offering to students and professionals. During his time at UBC, he took on the role of Chairperson at PVCC in 2015-2016 and led the team to many new milestones.
